Your library card is your ticket to take items home and to use public computers. Even if you do not have a library card, you may use library books or magazines while you are at the library. In order to check out and take home books, magazines, CDs, DVDs, or audio books you must show your library card. The Pekin Public Library honors library cards from libraries throughout central Illinois.
How to Apply
To apply for your library card, please provide a photo ID with proof of current Pekin residence and visit the library to fill out a brief application. Examples of acceptable identification are driver’s license, voter registration card, checkbook, or utility bill. Those under the age of 14 need to have their completed application signed by a parent or legal guardian.

What It Costs
Nothing! A Pekin Public Library card is issued free of charge to anyone living within the city limits of Pekin. When a person lives in an area that does not have access to public library service, a library card from the Pekin Public Library may be purchased for $74 for one year. The purchased card may be used by the entire household, not just the person who bought it. So a husband a wife living in Country Club Estates, would pay $74 for a library card to use, not $148 for each of them.
If you do not know whether or not you are eligible to purchase a non-resident library card or to receive a free library card, please call the library for more information 309-347-7111
