Get A Card

To apply for a library card, please bring...

  • Adult (18 and up) Valid ID with your current address; OR ID with an old address and another official item with your correct address (bank statement, utility bill, lease, paycheck stub, etc.)
  • Young Adult (14-17) A valid student PCHS 303 ID; OR valid ID with a current address; OR parent/legal guardian with information as detailed below.
  • Ages 13 and below Parent/legal guardian’s valid ID with current address; OR ID with an old address and another official item with correct address (bank statement, utility bill, lease, etc.)
  • Students outside Pekin library tax district Free card (with a parent who shows a valid ID) under our Intergovernmental Agreement with the public school system. Altman, Broadmoor, CB Smith, Dirksen, Edison, Jefferson, Georgetown, LE Stark, PCHS, PFEC, Rankin, Rodgers, South Pekin, Spring Lake, Washington, Willow, or Wilson. Also includes Good Shepherd, Marquette Elementary School, and St. Joseph

Most addresses in Pekin/South Pekin already pay an annual library tax, so there is no additional charge.

Not sure if you pay library tax? Go to Tazewell County Assessor  and search by address. Property tax bills list the library as a line item.

Addresses not paying library taxes can purchase a card.  Take the “Net Taxable Value” on your tax bill times the library’s tax rate (.23982%)

Renew An Expired Card

Have an expired card? Come to the library with a valid ID showing your current address. Resident cards will renew for free and will last for 3 years.

Replace a Lost Card

Bring a valid ID showing your current address to the Information Desk. We can replace your card for only $1.

Fines on Your Card

Check-out privileges are blocked when fines reach $5. Fees can be paid at the library; over the phone (debit/credit card) 309-347-7111; or  online with a debit/credit card
